Not exactly sure : What you are asking. Are you talking about one member in the relationship having depression? Are you referring to the relationship being damaging and leading to depression? If a relationship were that damaging - would examine if one should stay in it. If one member is depressed - be supportive, but set limits so you don't become engulfed in the other person's lows.

See below: Learn to recognize symptoms to build up awareness about depression; create a "crisis card" where the names of providers, crisis lines, medication, dosages, etc. Can be listed.  If you're a caregiver, try to take care of your own needs to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Couples counseling and/or couples sessions are also an option and will help with the relationships. Good luck!

Coping with loss: Losing a relationship is hard. If significant depressive symptoms were present prior to loss of relationship or if they significantly impair your ability to function without any improvement for more than a couple of weeks, recommend a consult from a therapist or your doctor. If symptoms have come on following loss of the relationship look to positive social support and activities you enjoy.

Probably: There are many causes of depression.  Family stress/distress is one such cause.  If you believe your have issues surrounding your relationship with your family, mend the fences. YesX2: Yes, anxiety over time, can b exhausting,  depressing. When our needs are not met in relationships, we often feel alone, hopeless, depressed. I find that when people land themselves in a bad relationship, they are likely to have had this happen before. Then the combo of the current bad relationship and previous experiences is overwhelming. Therapy can help.
