Curable disease: Hepatitis C these days is a curable disease with the new treatments available. You should see a gastroenterologist to arrange an evaluation. The newer medicines are oral, have very few side effects, and a very high success rate. Go for it!

See a specialist: If  you feel that you are not getting good care, then you should ask for a referral to an infectious disease specialist.

every year tested neg.for hep c.. is it possible that you can have it and it does not come up on blood work?

Rarely: There are two mains times this can happen. If someone has recently been infected (acute hepatitis c) they might not have developed antibodies yet. Another is if someone has a very weak immune system like advanced HIV or cancer chemotherapy. In both cases the hcv viral load is positive. If neither apply, negative almost always means no infection.

90% - for type 1: Early studies claim a &gt;90% cure rate for HepatitisC genotype 1. As with all studies and new drugs, time will tell as more and more studies will come out in the near future.

Yes and yes...: Hepatitis c is a viral infection passed via the parenteral route i.e. Blood.  The blood of the infected person must get into the blood of the recipient for transmission to occur.  Risk factors include IV drugs, tattoos, tainted blood transfusions, body piercings and multiple sex partners.  There is treatment for hepatitis c for many successful treatment represents a cure. No risk, no worry: Massage carries no risk of HIV -- even without gloving there would be no significant risk. Of course This assumes the masseur isn't also providing sexual survices -- which, as you undoubtedly know, is common in some settings, to the detriment of legimtate massage parlors and workers.

Follow up for Hep C: Well it's possible (about 15%) that you cleared it by yourself, without any medication. You might have the positive antibody, but negative virus test (PCR). This would be great news if you don't have the actual virus in your system. We all have very good immune systems that are working for us all the time -hopefully you're one of the lucky ones that cleared the virus on your own. Ask for specifics

i had some blood work done hepatitis c and b. my results are negative except hep b? i already had my immersion shot when i was a kid? how can this be?
