Ice, ice, ice: Start first with resting, staying off it completely.  Wrap it with compressive wraps like an ace bandage, use lots of cold compresses or ice.  Hot compresses actually only make the skin feel better, but inside increase swelling and delay healing.  Hope this answers your question.

Depends on the cause: For trauma and conjunctivitis, cool compresses are best.  For chalazion and stye, warm is better.

Varies: It varies somewhat.  Cold is usually used to decrease swelling and inflammation to an area and can also provide some pain relief by numbing the superficial structures somewhat.   Heat, particulary moist heat can help to relieve muscle spasm and can bring increased blood flow to an area.  Most of the time, moist heat seems to work best for muscle injuries in my opinion. Heat: Sounds like a strain calf muscle, immmediately after cold is usually more beneficial and later on heat will help more.

there is hard lump due to injection under my skin in right buttock even after a month.this injection has given for nerve pain.the lump is slightly painful when i press it.how to get rid of this lump?hot or cold compress? will it dissolve on it's own?

: I suspect that a blood clot formed under the skin and has hardened. These hematomas don't usually dissolve.. These clots aren't dangerous but occasionally, because of persistent tenderness, have to be removed by a surgeon through a small incision.

i burned my arm on a hot pot lid. the burned part has turned greyish and wrinkled. i've been applying a cold compress. how else can i treat this?

"Dead skin": Try Vitamin D ointment..Sounds like the top layer of skin is dead..(much like a bad sunburn!)

Black eye: It depends on how severe the injury was and whether or not you had underlying fracture.  The more severe the injury the longer it will take to heal.

It sounds like you: have Restless Legs Syndrome. See your Dr,there are various medications that relieve this syndrome. Does this mostly occur at night, oris it worse at night?
