Leaning on them?: If you have had pressure on them that can cause it.  Otherwise if it persists consider seeing a doctor to rule out arthritis or any other problem.  Hope it goes away on its own.  If you are taking any medication that may be a temporary side effect.

Ice first: After injury ice 36 hours then heat. Is it swollen? Your could have torn cartilage or ligaments. Your evaluation will tell.

See your doctor: There are many conditions that can cause an inflamed, hot knee. Multiple types of arthritis, joint infections, or gout are all possibilities. You may need testing to get a correct diagnosis, so that proper treatment can be instituted. Hope this helps!

Nonspecific: Knee pain as you describe can be caused by a number of conditions including cellulitis (skin infection), arthritis, gout, cartilage damage, etc.  Displacement (such as a patellar subluxation) is usually well seen on examination by a physician.  See your physician for further evaluation.

after jogging 4 mi, approx. 24 hrs later, i have inner/side knee pain when going up steps and walking. a week has past. not red or hot, little edema.

Poss. meniscus tear: Persistent knee pain raises the question of a tear or partial tear of a meniscus.  See an orthopedist or physiatrist.  No jogging in the mean time.

Knee pain: Knee pain with a normal X-ray can be due to a variety of issues; the weather really should have no significant effect though.  In your age group, overuse can cause joint inflammation, local tendonitis, etc.  You can injure the soft tissues in your knee (e.g. meniscus tear, often with twisting motions) and these can take time to repair or need surgery if they are large enough.  An MRI can help dx.

i suffer with bad knees and knee pain and now i have a purple patch on the back of my leg and i get hot spots allover my legs..why and what is it?

Be seen: Skin changes are usually not associated with problems inside the knee itself, so it is probably unrelated to your " bad knees".  There are a number of potential causes.  I would not hesitate to be seen to have it diagnosed.

concerned about gadolinium reaction and deposition disease from mri. one time exposure 5 weeks ago. no immediate reaction. now 5 weeks in, possibly symptoms of new knee pain, feeling of being hot but no fever. any way to tell if its from gadolinium?

Not likely: Gadolinium deposition disease is not reliably proven to occur (https://www.jacr.org/article/S1546-1440(19)31295-5/fulltext) .  It would be better to assume that something else is going on with your knee and follow-up with your doc about it. If it is hot, you may have a joint infection, which can be very serious! Please get seen today at an Urgent Care or ER if your doc cannot see you.

As a dancer: YOU NEED HEALTHY KNEES! ,...and it sounds to me like you may have INTERNAL DERANGEMENT of one or both of your needs( Cartilage damage)
