A : A "dislocated neck" is a very very event.  I'm not certain what you mean by "cranial nerve damage."  heart falure generally results from years of heart disease or heart valve disease but can certainly happen if someone is very ill or severely injured.  Liver failure is usually the result of many years of damage to the liver wither with infection or alcohol abuse with resulting ascites, but sometimes people can go into liver failure beacuse of a sudden and devestating illness like sepsis (massive infection) or severe injury.  Without knowing any other particulars about your case, it would be difficult to comment further.

: Newly forming pleural effusions have to be tapped for both diagnostic and therapeutic reasons, specifically if complex appearance, trust the medical team, they are not overdoing it.

husband just had fem to fem and bilateral fem-pop bypass. drains have been removed from groin but there is a lot of drainage from wounds. how often should these dressings be changed? he is still in hospital but says no one has changed them in a day?

: Dressings may be left in place for 2 days providing there's no drainage. Wounds must be kept dry. I believe your husband's dressngs should have been changed daily and drains kept in place until there's very little drainage. Your husband should report his apparently substandard postop care to the surgeon or house staff.

Depends on extent  : If she fell, the staff must be notified if she's not already on fall precautions, esp. W/history of dementia.If they drilled a hole, she must be on a ns floor.Banging the corner of the eyebrow can be serious ; needs to be examined by the neurosurgeon, neurologist, and/or ophthalmology service(s) to consult on whether further imaging is needed.Talk to her doctors for further details ; recommendatns.

D/c planning: Discharge planning starts when the patient is admitted.  This includes social workers involvement to facilitate discharge to an appropriate place, home, nursing home or home health is needed. Whether the patient needs any equipment on discharge like wheelchairs, commodes etc.
