Guess fungal: From your description I would vote fungal infection. Try to keep the skin open to air and consider starting otc antifungal medications until you can get into your MD.

Skin fungal: infections especially in area which are naturally MOIST are VERY difficult to get rid of....Remember KEEP DRY in between applications of whatever your using topically. Take antifungal medication (if that is prescribed) for a few weeks after rash is gone!

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Go get some otc benadryl, (diphenhydramine) zantac for allergic rashes.  If it is a rash that causes shortness of breath, go to the er.   You need to get started on steroids asap.

Clove oil,tea tree o: Clove oil, tea tree oil, raw garlic, chamomile tea bags directly on the affected area
all above have been tried with some success.But if the infection recuurs or does not clear you should consult doctor.

Rashes in the groin: Most rashes in otherwise healthy young men are fungal in nature.  If you haven't tried an anti-fungal medication or cream that may do the trick.

One common cause of rashes is food allergies- common allergens include dairy, gluten, eggs, soy, citrus & almonds- try avoiding for 2 weeks and add back one at a time. Not antifungal: Mupirocin, keflex and septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) aren't antifungals, those are antibiotics, topical and systemic. Miconazole cream though is the antifungal, it's OTC, needs at least 2 weeks of application, but you ultimately want to see your doctor, it might not be ring worm to start with, also if you have a pet at home, it needs to be taken care of, wish you all wellness.

When in doubt-Mix.: Mix the Lamisil (terbinafine) with a small amount of topical antibiotic (Neosporin).
