my skin's gotten pretty itchy in last couple hour sw/hives in several places. normally wouldn't stress but had colonoscopy today. should i be worried?

Possible allergy: Call the doctor who did the colonoscopy and see if he gave you any medications that you could be allergic to. Over the counter antihistaminemay be helpful.

my husband has constantly itchy, burning anus . not a lot of spicy foods. he is 61 years old and has never has colonoscopy. what could be the cause?

Depens (penicillamine): Some times perianal itching has an underlying cause such as hemorrhoids, fissure, fistulars, certain skin conditions. Many times there is no obvious cause. Itching in and of itself is not an indication for a colonoscopy but being over 50 is.

Hemorrhoids more: likely.  Anal cancer is uncommon unless one has been engaging in receptive anal intercourse and got infected with HPV. Even hemorrhoids can lead to sufficient blood loss to cause anemia and you should consult a doctor for treatment.

Rome 3 criteria: Ibs is associated w/ abdominal discomfort, altered /alternating stool pattern, accompanying nausea, bloating, gasiness. Often improved by stooling, ibs is defined by changes in perception of gut distension, motility, sensation. Diet & emotional stress may be a factor. 1st rule out inflammation, ischemia, infection (as with colonoscopy), then ibs is diagnosed with "certainty" unless risks change.

It depends: Hives affect 1 of 5 people at least once in their lives.  Hives that are due to a known cause (such as cat or drug) usually last only as long as one encounters them. Hives due to unknown (idiopathic) causes that leave no scar may last from less than 24 hours to years, although they may not be dangerous (but annoying). Hives that stay in the same place for days and leave a scar are more serious.

Sci Fi Plot: Some women, and this is very rare, develop allergy antibodies to male semen resulting in anaphylaxis during or after intercourse. One symptom of anaphylaxis is hives. But you referred to "they". There are only 2 things that can give a man hives during intercourse - latex allergy if he is using a latex condom or exercise-induced urticaria. Don't lose too much sleep over these possibilities.
