Demyelination Occurs: Demyelination occurs in primary HIV infection occurs in the peripheral nervous system causing neuropathy and causes vacuole myelopathy in the central nervous system if not treated with anti-retroviral agents.

No!: I don't think so! you have to have mucosal contact to get infected with hiv. Of course intravenous drug users can get iy by sharing needles. But what you describe could be a disease we rarely see scarlet fever although is is mainly in young children. Go see a doctor to rule out strep throat... Also the rash could be of diagnostic importance. Go see an md!

Possible but: there are many other causes for chronic diarrhea than HIV especially if you have been feeling healthy otherwise. Have you been treated with an antibiotic in the past month? If so , you need to contact your doctor to check if you have a C difficile infection. If the problem remains, then a GI consult should be considered.

Accepted Answer

Completely reliable: First, primary HIV symptoms always start by10-15 days. Symptoms starting at 47 days are not due to HIV from that exposure. Second, all currently standard HIV blood tests, i.e. newer antibody tests ("3rd generation") or antigen-antibody tests ("4th generation") are conclusive at 8 weeks. Assuming no exposure more recently, you don't have HIV.

i was treated with penicillin for primary syphilis a month ago. currently, lymphocytes is 48.2% (ref:20-40) and esr is 14 (ref: 0-10). hiv, hcv ab, hbsag are -ve. is it normal for lymphocytes and esr to stay elevated? or could it be another infection?

: It can take some time for these to normalize. Repeat in another 4 weeks.

: I wonder what symptoms led to the serology tests done before PLEVA appears. The positive results of both CMV IgM &amp; IgG mean you had a recent CMV infection but there is no reported case of CMV-related PLEVA; however, other viral infection such as herpes, EB  or HIV may have causal relationship with PLEVA.

Potentially: Poorly controlled HIV results in a condition where your own immune system is not capable of fighting off even common viruses and bacteria.  So yes, HIV can increase your change of dangerous infections.
