Back and hip pain: Certainly, injury to the discs in the lumbar spine could cause referred pain the the groin area (this is the hip joint) or genitals. Pain on the side of the hip where the bone is most prominent, would likely be due to bursitis. Pain in the hip pocket region, would be likely sacroiliac or piriformis syndrome. All should improve with time, nsaid's, heat/ice, and gradual return to normal function.

im 27 and if im inactive for a period of time then suddenly do light jog/run then my hip aches , ends up being excruciating and pain shoots into thigh?

Stretch: A starting point would be to stretch your hip flexors.  Rolling the area on a firm foam roller may help loosen as well. The flexors tighten with inactivity and sitting.  If stretching/massage don't help, and orthopedic surgeon would be a good person to see for help treating joint pains.

feeling sick and muscles and hips ache. could this be a side effect of toprimate? only on 12.5mg? i take this for migraines. been on it for 4 days.

Not likely: Topamax (topiramate) can cause acidosis but not at such a low dose. Intolerable parasthesias, eye pain, change in vision, kidney stones, inability to sweat, depression are reasons to consider lowering the dose or switching to another medication. Muscle aches can occur with the flu or as a side effect of cholesterol medications. Make sure the medicine you are taking is really Topamax (topiramate) -it comes as 25, 50 and 100

Maybe fibromyalgia?: "fibromyalgia" is all-over muscle aching, stiffness, and soreness, often worse in the mornings and late in the day. There are several inflammatory illnesses it could be, especially if you have pain/stiffness/swelling in your joints. See a rheumatologist for proper diagnosis. Treatment for fibromyalgia is to become fit, flexible, and strong, but avoid excessive exercise that could cause a flare-up.

is it safe for me to take a glucosamine supplement?

50 y. psa @ 3.9 up from 2.2. no symptoms are other than back/hip ache. no family hx. one mri read had pi-rad 3 w/2.8 cm lesion. then read by others with 2 pi-rad 5, 2 pi-rad 4, and 1 pi-rad 3. biopsy has been done. why different mri reads? im worried?

: This discrepancy in the MRI should be addressed with your urologist. It must be explained to you as simplified as possible, and a decision on treatment depending on the biopsy results should be made in conjunction with you and your doctor as to the types of treatment offered and their risks. Due to your rather young age, this decision should be given top priority.

Lumbar: Low back and hip aching at your age is commonly due to early degenerative disc disease, i.e. Wear and tear of the discs which happens to all of us due to time and aging.  Generally the initial treatment for this is conservative - physical therapy, increased activity, maintaining a good diet and weight, smoking cessation, etc.  Abdominal cramping is not typically associated and may be separate.

Iron deficiency: It's possible you have iron deficiency which can lead to restless legs and perhaps some of your other symptoms. It could also be a low thyroid. I wonder if you're eating properly or if you have heavy periods which could explain some anemia/low iron. Good if you can get some labs checked - that's what I'd start with - a complete blood count, iron tests, and thyroid function. Hope you feel better.

Possibly ITB : Many potential causes, one of the moe common is known as ileotibial band syndrome, which runs down the outside of the hip, down the lateral thigh, and inserts on the outside of the knee.  Don't hesitate to be seen for a specific diagnosis and to discuss treatment options.
