my last period oct18, finished taking duphaston 10days ago, negative hcg urine test, no ovarian cyst, today dec17 and no period, what can it be?

No menses: If you do not have bleeding after Progesterone withdrawal, there can be several causes. 1) pregnant and too early to check urine 2) the lining of the endometrium is too thin to get a bleed (called a silent period by some) 3) something blocking the cervix (doubtful because last month regular period). See your doctor.

It worked : You took that medication to trigger bleeding. It worked. It doesn't matter if it was a lot or not. Blood is blood.

will a urine culture miss urethritis? is a urine analysis helpful also?

Yes: There are infectious and non infectious cases for urethritis. Infectious causes are ruled in or out by specific cultures. Urine analysis is not diagnostic in urethritis, but may provide useful information.

when you take a urine sample for a urine analysis. can the lab or doctor tell the difference between period blood and other types of blood?

Maybe: The lab can often guess that blood is from your period. However, such a contaminated sample should not be submitted for urinalysis. Try for a clean catch even though it is difficult.

Possible reasons...: Pregnancy is the most common cause of a missed period. If not pregnant, other causes of a late or missed period include:  excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (such as birth control pills), hormonal disorders, etc…  A home urine pregnant test is very accurate by 3 weeks after sex. Can retest after 1 more week.

Pregnant?: Pregnancy is always a possibility.  Purchase and perform a home pregnancy test.  They usually become positive when you're about a week late.  If it's negative, repeat it in 1 week and see your doctor.

Positive preg test: If your home pregnancy test was positive then you are pregnant.  You should see your obstetrician about any bleeding.

When was IUI: The pregnancy test should be done 2-3 weeks after your IUI or on the date your doctor instructed. If it has been 2-3 weeks since your IUI then the current test is likely reliable. Check with your fertility specialist to verify the date of your IUI and what day they wanted you to check   a test

Take pregnancy test: 2-3wks after missed period is equal to 6-7wks after last menstrual period. Home pregnancy tests should turn positive 4 weeks after your last menstrual period if you're pregnant. If you've already missed your period, your HCG should grow & grow over the next several wks such that your home pregnancy test might become more positive as your pregnancy progresses.

Yes: Check it again. If still negative consider it is negative. Periods have ways of not coming on time due to stress etc.  Best to just check it again. Practice safe sex to prevent pregnancy if you don't want to be pregnant unexpectedly.
