Find cause: As a pathologist, i always tell folks to look at the person more than the labs. High SGPT is hepatitis, hemochromatosis, wilson's, or drug toxicity until proven otherwise. Usually it is proved otherwise, but we need to rule these out. Once done, easy on the alcohol and hit the gym hard and the lifestyle-related causes of high SGPT (the most common ones) will be history and you'll feel better.

Depends: Sgpt is present in liver cells and the usual cause  of high level is alcohol intake. Hepatitis, drug reaction  and heart failure are other causes.

Liver inflammation: Sgpt is one of the enzymes (the other related one being sgot) produced as part of liver metabolism.  If either are high, this indicates some problem with the liver causing inflammation such as alcohol, infection, gallstones, viral hepatitis, or a great many other things.  Many times this is temporary but if your doctor discovers this, (s)he will follow up to make sure it normalizes.

Seek cause: It's not the SGPT that's going to hurt you, it's whatever is making the SGPT high. Your physicain will take you through the workup. If a few weeks off meds and alcohol doesn't normalize things, and you turn out not to have hepatitis b/c, hemochromatosis, wilson's, autoimmune disease or one of the others, perhaps all you need is to get back into serious physical fitness.

Find cause first: You need to determine why is the SGPT level high and address that cause. At a minimum, do not use alcohol at all. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Workup is in order: I am going to assume that you feel well. This may be your liver's way of asking you to exercise more. You might be allergic to an ibuprofen tablet. If you drink, it may be a warning. You may need to repeat the test off alcohol and meds in two weeks, or be checked now for hepatitis B/C, Wilson's, hemochromatosis, autoimmune hepatitis, and a few others.

???: It evades me thinking what medicine is used to lower sgpt. If the cause of the rise of liver function is known then we can target the cause but there is no medicine that targets the sgpt. Talk to the doctor to find out the diagnosis and find out how that problem is being treated. The lowering of SGPT may not be a necessary solution and may have to stay a bit elevated.

Rhabdomyolysis?: Sgpt is usually a liver injury marker but may also get elevated when skeletal muscle is injured. The big worry in someone on statins is rhabdomyolysis, skeletal muscle fiber breakup. Your physician knows how to pursue the workup.
