May have hyperacusis: There is a condition called hyperacusis in which certain sounds can be painful. Sometimes it can occur in patients with underlying hearing loss. I recommend you see an ENT doctor to have a hearing test and an ear exam.

Venlafaxine: Have not seen tinnitus (ringing in ears) listed as a side effect of venlafaxine but it has been associated with hyperacusis,  middle &amp; external ear infections as well as loss of hearing.

You are describing: the response of the ear to a noxious injury LOUD SOUNDS are the most common (eg a gunshot etc) I suppose intense cold could damage as well but you have to check this with
an Audiologist!!  Ask your Primary Care Provider for a referral!
