Vast differential: The differential could be anything, literally. Infectious/autoimmune/metabolic, or just benign self-limited. Very difficult to make diagnosis over the internet.

: If you are under stress with acute sickness, leukocytosis may be present but usually the total WBC is less than 12K.

Many, many things: The list is too long to list here, and it depends on the patient's individual circumstances. In younger patients, it is usually related to some transient infection. In older adults, it needs a more dedicated work up. A trained hematologist can sort this out in 2 visits, with some standard testing, including a review of the blood under the microscope.

Concerning: The absolute neutrophil count of around 700 is very worrisome and unless your physician already knows the cause, a work up is in order. If you are taking any meds, even "natural herbal" stuff (which may not be what it is supposed to be), consider stopping.

WBC: That means your white blood cell is low and your lymphocyte is high- that means you should have further work-up. In many cases- viral infection is the culprit- however other things like autoimmune disease as well as certain type of chronic leukemia i.E  chronic lymphocytic leukemia can also give you the same presentation. Follow up with your doctor.

Any symptoms?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, if you do not have any symptoms, it not a cause for concern. 
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

my total wbc and neutrophils are high and rising. what kind of diagnostic avenues should i look at?

High WBC Count: An elevated white count can be benign such as from use of a steroid medication, moderate concern as with an active infection or high concern as with a developing hematologic disorder like leukemia. Reviewing medications, looking for infectious sources such as endocarditis is important. Lastly, a consultation with a hematologist is required for a probable bone marrow biopsy to assess for a cancer.
