Gallstone ? disease: Stones in the gallbladder (gb) seldom cause symptoms unless they migrate into the neck of the gb (&amp;block exit of bile) or into the common bile duct. Symptomless gallstones may be diagnosed by chance by imaging or during investigation for some other condition. Only 10% become symptomatic within 5 years of detection. Ultrasound, ct scan, mrcp finds stones; cck-hida scan can tell if gb is diseased.

Coding error?: I agree. Sounds like the more appropriate ICD-10 code for your finding was K80.20 = Calculus of gallbladder w/o cholecystitis w/o obstruction. Perhaps your provider has however other data that supports a diagnosis of cholestasis (K71.0, K83.1).

Yes, but...: ...It is a very nonspecific test, elevated whenever there is any inflammation present. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) measures how "sticky" red blood cells are. Fibrinogen is a blood protein that increases in response to just about any inflammatory reaction in the body, causing rbcs to stick together.  While the ESR could increase after a gb attack, it is too nonspecific to be useful.

Depends : Not sure what you mean by a failing gall bladder. If you’re having gall bladder attacks (abdominal pain after eating fatty foods), pain can definitely cause your blood pressure and heart rate to go up. But if you aren’t anxious or in pain, there could be something else going on. Regardless, you should get checked out to see if you have hypertension and if there is a rhythm abnormality going on.

Bile acid Malabsorpn: Approximately 20 percent of people who have had gallbladders removed will experience recurrent  diarrhea, a condition known as postcholecystectomy diarrhea. without the gallbladder, there is nothing to regulate the amount of bile that passes into the small intestine and the higher amount of bile can create watery stools.Luckily, for most pts. Time will resolve it.

Drug reaction?: May be a reaction to one if the myriad of medications, including the anesthesia that caused this, assuming it happened immediately after the operation. Ask for follow up with the anesthesiologist to get more input. If itnhappened in the operating room, it could have been related to a gas embolism, and that would resolve on its own. I'm sure she'll come around and be fine. Hope this helps!

Get checked again : You need to get an Ultrasound and some blood work done  to ensure it is not acute cholecystitis(emergency)  as opposed to just biliary colic(non emergency) . If your pain is severe, fever, nausea and vomiting are present, then I suggest go to the ER . Only you know if your symptoms are worse . Alternatively , Your primary care provider can order these tests as an outpatient .

Biliary abnormality.: elevated total bilirubin and direct bilirubin, elevated alkaline phosphatase, elevated AST and or ALT

Family practice : Make sure you don't have mononucleosis or hepatitis. These are caused by viruses which give you those symptoms.
