Co-tango usually: The BUN is usually 10 times the creatinine. When the creatinine goes up, the BUN goes up similarly to roughly keep this proportion, in most kidney disease states.

The notable exception is when the creatinine goes up say by 20% to 1.2, but the BUN goes up *5 to 50.  This strongly suggests a pre-renal state, commonly dehydration. 

Mild elevations of BUN with normal creatinines aren't of concern.

Don't Rx a lab value: When i was lifting weights every day, my creatinine stayed at 1.7, which reflects muscle mass if your kidneys are intact. Gout shuts down kidneys only late, and dehydration raises BUN more than it does creatinine. Next time you get blood drawn, be sure you've had a few glasses of water beforehand. I'm not sure how appropriate "ketobest" is for you, or whether Colchicine monorx is right for ur gout.

: Low blood creatinine is super normal finding &amp; worth a smile. Do't know why some labs report low creatinine as low when is in fact normal escpecially for people with reduced protein diet especially vegetarians. ? was blood test ordered in first place, low creatinine not indication to see endocrinologist, but why was progesterone level checked in young male? Result was reason for endocrinologist .

See below: Had the high creatinine level been due to dehydration, you BUN would also have been high. It would be prudent to consult a nephrologist.

Yes it can: This is referred to as acute kidney injury. Generally it is reversible with rehydration. We will see the BUN rise first and then if severe, the creatinine will also rise.

It can be.  : Any situation that causes excessive loss of body fluids (vomiting, diarrhea, severe bleeding, fevers, heat exposure, certain medications, etc) can lead to reduction in the body's entire blood volume.  When this happens, part of your body's natural response is to reduce blood flow to some of its organs including kidneys.  This can lead to kidney injury which can be detected by a high creatinine.

Concentration: Simplest way, if you have lets say 100 particles in 5 liter of fluid, the concentration is 20 per liter. If you now have only 3 liter of fluid, the concentration is now 33.3.

Possible: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would be prudent to repeat the test after proper hydration,.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Kidney disease?: Get with your physician. I trust you drink adequate water when you&#x27;re thirsty. He/she will rule diabetes mellitus in or out, then evaluate you for the ability to concentrate your urine. If you are not able to do this, you will then be tested to see whether you have pituitary diabetes insipidus, or renal interstitial disease. This is serious. Get it looked at now.
