Deficient in D, K?: Vitamin D is needed to absorb Calcium and K needed for calcium to enter our bones. Get your D level checked- optimal is 50-80. Try Vit K2 15-45 mg/day (not mcg). High chol. may be caused by stress. It may not be a problem if you don't have vascular inflammation. Sounds like: A mixed deficiency of vit d3 and vit k, both necessary for bone metabolism. On the other hand you may have a genetically determined disease of bone metabolism.

Choleseterol: Total cholesterol is not important, the bad cholesterol or LDL and vldl is the important thing, as also having high hdl.
You could eat 2%milk cheese in moderation. If you take enough vitamind3 and regular calcium containing foods you woud be ok.

As directed: This medicine is vitamin B12 and is not intended to benefit her osteoporosis, but to treat deficiency of the vitamin which is a different illness. The prescribing physician has discretion about how frequently to inject B12 in any case.

It's a balancing act: Every patient has to weigh risks and benefits of therapy.  Osteoporosis is a serious disease with potentially devastating consequences.  She could compromise with reduced calcium maybe 600mg per day and vitamin d 800 units per day.  She should also, of course, take medication to reduce bone turnover or stimulate bone formation. She should discuss all of this with her physician.

Calcium with vita D: Osteoporosis needs to be treated up prevent fractures. You need up start calcium with vitamin d 500/200 2-3x/ day plus a medicine called Fosamax or one in its class to adequately treat osteoporosis . A DEXA scan should be done after a year of treatment initiation. Increase in physical activity will help bone remodeling.

Several things: Hi. Is your blood calcium low, normal, or high? Has your doc checked your PTH? High urinary calcium is a risk for kidney stones. If your blood calcium is high and your PTH is high and your urine calcium is high, you have primary hyperparathyroidism. Osteoporosis: Yes but not enough. By the time you have osteoporosis calcium is not enough to treat it (is like using a band aid for an abdominal wound. For that you need stitches ). Talk to your doctor about osteoporosis medications. They may reverse it to normal bone density. If you smoke, you need to quit.

Possibly: Calcium channel blockers due decrease calcium absorption.  Talk to your doctor about it.  I assume you are on the calcium channel blocker for a good reason and should not stop it unless instructed by your doctor.  You can take steps to avoid osteoporosis such as eating a calcium rick diet, doing daily weight bearing exercies, like walking, and having 15 minutes of sun exposure a day.
