Herpes: The best way to treat herpes is to initiate antiviral therapy within 72 hours of diagnosis.  This will give the best chance of the medication to be effective in decreasing the symptoms and amount of time an episode can last.

...: Most people with genital herpes have no symptoms or mild non-specific symptoms that are not enough to cause them alarm. The “classic” symptoms are blisters or ulcers on the genitals, rectum or mouth. These can take 2-4 weeks to heal. The first episode can be accompanied by fever, headache and body aches. Repeated outbreaks are common. There is treatment but no cure. Latex condoms decrease risk.

Depends...: You need to see a physician to examine where this infection is, and what can be done for it. You may need an antiviral such as acyclovir. If the sores are in your mouth, consuming very acidic foods will only serve to inflame them. In the meantime, avoid intimate contact where there is a risk of your partner touching the infected area.

Increased risk: Herpes simplex from a cold sore is quite contagious.  Kissing is a good way to pass the virus and infect your partner.  If he then performs oral sex on you, he can transmit the virus to your genital area.  30% of genital herpes is due to HSV 1 commonly causing cold sores.  You can also auto innoculate, if you touch your lips and then later go to the restroom and accidentally touch the genital area.

Genital herpes: TYpically, genital herpes is painful and usually one will have several small "bumps" or clear fluid filled vesicles.  It's not impossible that what you have is herpes, but unlikely.  To know for sure you would need to have a swab of the lesion sent for lab analysis.  However, I think it's rather unlikely.

Herpes: Herpes when it  appears looks like a cluster of blisters, usually with a red or golden center. They are very painful. What you describe above is not likely to be herpes.

i had possible herpes 2 exposure, no lesions & took igm and igg blood tests 2 weeks after the incident.  both were negative.  did i test too early?  it is now 32 days post exposure, still no lesions.  do i need to retest?

Herpes I or II: Testing with IgM and IgG "two weeks after possible exposure" with "negative results" may be a bit too early to detect antibody production against H I or H II.  Test again after another month to be certain.  Herpes virus is often present even with no visible sores in the mouth or genital areas, so transmission is possible.

thurs night i borrowed my friends bikini to go in the pool for a few hours. i realized after the fact that i could possibly catch an std, hiv, herpes or something. i went for testing sat afternoon. can i get something from her bikini &test to early?

Transmission: I do understand your concern &amp; the question is broad. STD (sexually-transmitted disease) is transmitted sexually if one neglects to use proper barrier protection  ie. latex condom. If there were no sexual contact, no skin lacerations and the bikini was clean, the answer is unlikely you contracted STD. "Something else" another disease (not STD) is possible. Tests were too early for certain STD.
