Big difference: Disc Protrusion is when the distance between the edges of the disc herniation is less than the distance between the edges of the base. Disc Extrusion is when the distance between the edges of the disc material is greater than the distance at the base. Disc herniation may vary in severity from case to case.

Your question is?: You have not asked a question. The hemangioma likely has no clinical significance. However, you do have fairly severe osteoarthritis and stenosis in cluding a new disc herniation. Try conservative therapy first with nsaids, physical therapy and possibly targeted injections. Additional surgery is a last resort.

can hip pain be a symptom of herniated disc? i have l 3-4 disc protrusion (per mri) from lifting a heavy object.  initially i only had low back and hip pain.  over the period of 2 weeks i developed pain down my left leg and into the sole of my left foot.

The : The spine is made up of bony vertebrae and gel filled disks.  The disks act as shock absorbers between the vertebrae.  The disk is made up of an outer fibrosis shell called the annulus fibrosis and an inner gel called the nucleus pulposus.

When the disk is injured the wall of the disk may weaken, break and bulge out.  If the gel-like nucleus pulposus breaks partially through the outer annulus fibrosis this is called a disk protrusion.  If the disk breaks all the way through the annulus fibrosis this is called a disk herniation.

When you initially injured your back the protruded disk caused back pain.  The leg pain pain developed when the disk enlarged and pinched the leg nerve causing sciatica.

Disk disease can present with back pain, back pain that progresses into leg pain, back and leg pain or just leg pain.

The hip pain may be from the herniated disk, but it is commonly from injury to sacroiliac (si) joint or possibly hip done at the same time you injured your disk.  This is best determined by a history and examination by a spine doctor.

I meed to know what : Symptoms u are having , this MRI finding is not consistantly symptomatic and maybe an incidental finding to which no symptoms can be attatched depends on clinical setting the thoracic spine is different  than lumbar or cervical is disase prevalence thoracic pain is most likely muscular.

Cervical Stenosis: This is serious and something you need to see a neurosurgeon about. Do not do any strenuous activity and be very careful of any falls as these may worsen your condition and cause paralysis.  Good luck

That is a MR Dx. : If U have no symptoms no need 2 treat. If U have severe symptoms U can buy some time with epidural steroids but not permanent. Surgery is very successful if symptoms match the MR findings.

No: A sipped or herniated disc doesn't make the body look any different unless the patient finds the pain to be less if they position themselves in an unusual way.

can a slipped disc or herniated disk in your neck kill you?

Accepted Answer

No: A slipped disc or herniated disc can press on the spinal cord or a nerve but will not put enough pressure on the spinal cord to interfere with the respiratory function.  You would need to have a significant neck injury in order to do enough damage to interfere with breathing.
