had medical abortion 6 days ago (4&1/2weeks) hemoglobin@11.2 four days ago. when will hemoglobin be normal again?

Depends on iron: Generally I would expect recovery within a month to a normal hemoglobin, but this will depend on whether your iron stores are normal. I suggest rechecking in about 1 month and if the hemoglobin is not normal, having iron studies obtained. You may need to be on supplemental iron tablets.

Anemia: It sounds like there needs to be additional workup to determine the reason for your father's anemia.  Iron deficiency anemia is usually due to blood loss rather than a lack of iron intake.  Tests such as a colonoscopy are often done to look for gastrointestinal blood loss.

Depends: It depends on the reason for the low hemoglobin.Your docotor needs to do a thorough assessment including family, social, enviromental dietary and genetic history, physical exam and possibly other labs in order to determine the likely cause of your childs anemia.

i started taking ferrous fumerate 210 mg three weeks ago. i just had a blood test which shows my hemoglobin conc had dropped by 15, hct dropped by 3. what are the likely reasons for this and will it increase eventually?

: When you post on this site, please include the units of measure with your numbers. In the US grams of hemoglobin/deciliter is the normal unit used. If you dropped 15 you would be dead. If using grams/liter, the issue is one of why you are losing instead of gaining. Your doc should investigate a reason for chronic blood loss.

Tarry stools: Yes, it is possible.  Site of bleeding could be esophagus, stomach, duodenum, or other small bowel. Get checked please .
