Need Rheumatologist: My suggestion is to see a progressive rheumatologist in your relatively local area.  There are many great centers around the country.  Your location and access to the doctor can not be discounted.  This is a long term disease, not a single visit issue.  Many great doctors are around you.

does optic nerve vasculitis mean i have lupus?

No: Vasculitis of the actual nerve is very very rare. More likely things are nerve swelling ie pseudotumor cerebri, or papilledema. The answer is in the actual findings on opthalmologic tests and patient should be seen both by a rheumatologist and a neuro-opthalmologist. Treatment for actual vasculitis is more difficult, and the diagnosis usually requires a cerebal blood vessel angiogram.

my 27 yo cousin has been diagnosed with vasculitis (first flare up was age 2 in july 1995, drs said it could reaccur). dec 2019 it did. she is told she has multiple myeloma and lupus now too with this. prognosis? i wish there was something to cure it

Serious conditions: 3 different serious conditions, including a malignancy make the prognosis grim. He is young and that definitely helps. The variant of the disease, mild, moderate, severe will be confronted with newer, much improved therapies.

Variable: These illnesses are very different and many factors are involved in order to give you even a "ballpark" figure. Your family physician who knows you best might be in a better position to give you a better answer.

Yes: Lupus is an autoimmune disease. It is most often treated with steroids . Methotrexate however may also help by blunting your immune response.

Yes: There are numerous types of vasculitis and some only involve the skin. See a dermatologist. A diagnosis of vasculitis can be confined or ruled out by a simple skin biopsy.

i have various autoimmune illnesses including lupus, mctd, sfn and a positive titer that is a nuclear speckled pattern. however, im getting a low titer pattern of 1:40 with a cytoplasmic pattern via ifa staining. could this be vasculitis?

: Vasculitis is not a named disease but a symptom of other problems. Presumably you're in the care of a rheumatologist or other expert in autoimmune diseases. Keep working with her. Good luck.

i have every symptom of lupus. last week horrible vasculitis rash all over x 3 days. would go away and come back in diff spot. labs were normal, what else could this be? reading lupus symptoms put me at ease, it was me! now pcp isnt referring me

Derm: I would suggest a referral and consult with Dermatology. Take photos and a full description of how the rash started. If you are taking medication, please review them with your physician as a possible cause of a vasculitic rash.

the palm-side of my hands has a mottled look, like ground beef..with the fingertips being dark red. what can cause this? lupus? raynaud's? vasculitis?

Your condition: Is best determined by the combination of your history of symptoms with physical exams blood tests and possible imaging. Any of those conditions you mentioned are possible.
