i have an allergy to paint fumes i have  had a headache for a week now how can i get rid of this headache?

Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen: Reducing further exposure paint fumes will help to relieve the headache. Hopefully you are not a professional painter. Usual measures to relieve headache and exposure to fresh air will help to get a relief. The chemical particles binds to your receptors in the nose and triggers headache. It is not necessarily due to allergies; it could be a irritant reaction; the best way is to reduce exposure.

i use reactine and claritan for allergies. would nasal spray be useful o only for sinus symptoms?

Allergies: If reactine [zyrtec in us] & Claritin aren't controlling symptoms, a steroid nasal spray can provide additional relief. Saline nasal spray can help flush allergens from nasal passages. Avoid nasal decongestants for long-term use as they can cause rebound effect. Another option is see allergist for testing & desensitization therapy.

i saw a ent who said i had a cobbleston throat-allergies-treated wth zytec and nas spray-been 6 wks and still an issue-could it be anxity or reflux?

Probably: This may be caused by post-nasal drips from allergic rhinitis, or even reflux.  If you have great relief in your nasal symptoms from the nasal spray, then reflux is the more likely cause.   Else needs to consider sinusitis.

i use flonase nose spray for allergies but it makes my symptoms worse can anyone tell me why?

Maybe: Flonase contains alcohol and a rosewater smell which may be irritating to some.  Also if the spray is used improperly it can be irritating to the septum and nasal mucosa.  Also some people are steroid resistant, making the drug innefective.

i have severe allergies causing debilitating nasal and sinus symptoms, but no asthma. all typical treatments have failed: anti-h1's, steroid sprays, shots. i would like to ask for xolair and am willing to pay for it. is this a reasonable request?

Yes, it is: But that has to be through an experienced allergist, and you meet the criteria for having the medication, with the risks and benefits explained to you, mind you it is not a cure, best wishes

i went to the doctor on friday and was treated for an allergy; a steroid shot, a nasal spray and since then i have ran a steady fever of 100- 100.2.

Perhaps not allergy: Since none of those medications should cause a fever,  it's possible the diagnosis was wrong and you actually have a respiratory tract infection. Symptoms are very similar between the two disorders,  except fever not usually present with allergies.  If not improving in next few days,  give doc a call back and let them know that you have fever as well. In meantime,  get lots of rest and fluids.

Treatment: There are several potential causes for rhinitis. In this case, high IgE is suggestive of allergy to environmental triggers (but in no way clearly diagnostic).  More information is needed in order to suggest a specific strategy (eg allergy shots or immunotherapy), but no matter the cause; rest assured that we have options.

Yes &amp; no: Meds you take for symptoms like cetirazine can be taken indefinitely but you may run into issues with the occasional sedation it can cause making you sluggish. The non-sedating antihistamines like loritadine or fexofenadine may  give you the same benefit without the sedation.

13 month old with flu like symptoms. scratches nose vigorously. can i give him aller guard? (allergy nasal spray). it contains 2% ectoin, sea salt and water.

Accepted Answer

Allergy: Ectoine is a compound that does stabilize the cell membrane. In this case the histamine cells of the nose. Should not be problem.
