: Hello, I am not sure how old your son is because that may be helpful in making a suggestion. However doing more of breastfeeding may be more helpful if there is adequate flow if not the mother should increase her liquid intake so she could get a better flow. The breast milk is better suited to digestion and giving water to the baby may also help.

Food poisoning: seems likely if there is any diarrhea or vomiting.  Was the chicken refrigerated and then cooked through?  
Another possibility might be gall bladder if the chicken or other food was extremely greasy.  If pain keeps up and you are unable to drink fluids, you will need to be seen for a diagnosis and to prevent dehydration.  GOod luck!

Yes, it can.: Drink plenty of water, eat more quality fiber, fruits and vegetables, keep animal protein to a minimum, regular exercise. Get GI tract back on track, consider supplementing with probiotics.

Treat symptoms: Unless conta-indicated, start OTC acid blocker (ranitidine or Prilosec) antacids and anti-gas (simethicone). Avoid spicy and fatty foods, and alcohol, eat 4-5 small meals daily including roughage. Drink lots of water (8 x 8 oz) daily. Regarding the anxiety, consider seeing a talk therapist (psychologist, medical social worker) or psychiatrist if the anxiety is preventing you from normal activities

1. Swallow less air.  This is best achieved by eating slower, not talking when eating, and eating less temperature hot foods (when food is hot we inhale a lot of air to cool it down)
2. If this doesn't help, simethicone (gas-x) can help dissolve gas particles and make gas easier to pass
3. If still a problem see a GI doctor or pcp.

Belch: The best way to release gas from your stomach is to belch.  It is also important to try not to swallow air.  You shouldn't drink with straws, out of bottles, avoid sodas, avoid eating too fast and washing food down with liquid.  If you are speaking about intestinal gas you should avoid gas forming foods such as broccoli, beans, fiber, dried fruits, salads, etc.
