: The dose needs upwards titration over several days to weeks.  Taking it three times daily, efficacy should be achieved within a short time.  At a dose maximum of 1800 mg/day, if not successful, would switch to a dopamine agonist.

Drugs interact: Per Drugs.Com drug interaction checker, use of Gabapentin and alcohol togehter carries the risk of "dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment.". If you take Gabapentin, recommend that you consider stopping alcohol use in the future. If you are going right to bed after taking, would take the Gabapentin tonight.

Good idea: Gabapentinoids have been widely used for  diabetic neuropathy. Because the gabapentinoids are not metabolized in the liver and are excreted through the kidney essentially unchanged, they have no significant drug interactions.

Vitamin and Minerals: Often restless leg syndrome is due to various vitamin and mineral deficiencies.  I recommend trying a good MVI (multivitamin) with minerals including magnesium and zinc.  Also eat a good source of calcium but not with the mvi (multivitamin).  And most importantly, vit d is essential.

rls is more common in women than men (hence the range). The stanford study found that alcohol and/or smoking use, as with night-shift working, increases risk of rls. They also said that with increased age RLS risk increases, and that sleep apnea and coffee consumption also contributed. They said more data was needed.
