i have had left knee pain off and on for years and several years back a procedure was performed where shaving of some bone spurs was done.  my knee pain has come and gone since.  however, about 1 year ago, i injured it by lifting my leg and with some force met the corner of a wall with the top of my knee.  x-rays showed no break.  doctor prescribed pt, which did not help.  pain has continued/worsened.  there is now bruising (black and blue) on the inside of my knee. is this worrisome?

Knee pain: I assume you have an orthopedic surgeon who can examine and advise you. An MRI of the knee would seem advisable to look for internal derangement of the joint. I don't think that a simple xray would give you enough information.

Could be many things: This could be tendonitis in which case you can stretch and use antiinflamatories.  If multiple joints are stiff and getting worse this could be a systemic arthritis that would need lab testing to find out. You should be seen.

See your doctor: There are different possible causes for knee, calf and ankle pain.  The most worrisome would be a blood clot.  Would recommend an evaluation with your physician or local orthopaedic surgeon to identify the cause and recommend treatment.

Foot specialist?: Hard to say, but it could even be from improper fit of your shoes and the standing or both.  I would be evaluated by a professional and not try to heal yourself, which could make things worse.

Knee and heel pain: The knee and heel pain are likely due to walking a lot. Point tenderness on the knee, meaning that the pain gets worse when you push on it, is commonly a sign of bursitis. Heel pain is the most common location of pain in plantar fasciitis, which is also related to overuse. Low impact physical activity and rest are recommended as first line therapies. May be from back: Pain that follows this pattern may be coming from the spine, especially if it radiates bellow the knee.  Your doctor will need more history and a physical exam to know where the pain is coming from for sure.  There are other things that can cause this pattern of pain as well.
