hello, i have questions about my pregnancy. the doctor said i may have a miscarriage and that they can't hear the heart beat yet. i have done 2 ultrasounds and it remains the same. so i wanted to know if i could speak with a doctor about this?

Anyway, around 10 weeks gestation, the fetus's heart is big enough to be able to hear it using ultrasound.

Serum P.G. test: Have you had 2 serial pregnancy tests that are declining? If not, that should be a consideration prior to emptying the uterus as sometimes the ultrasounds at 8 weeks "miss" the fetal heartbeat.

MC?: Myxobolus cerebralis? The risk is zero. Not sure what MC you're referring to? Spontaneous abortion? Abruptio Placenta? Ectopic Pregnancy?  None fit "MC" - sorry.

Approach: Transvaginal ultrasound is around 8 weeks
transabdominal is around 10 weeks.

Around 6weeks: Usually at around 6weeks ,trans vaginal ultrasound will be able to detect heart beat and some other parts of the fetus such as the yolk sac and fetal pole,which is the bean shape of the fetus

Depends: There are some fetal cardiac arythmias that needs treatment while in utero, but not all of them. It is recommended to discuss this problem with a maternal fetal medicine specialist that will provide all the necessary info.

Time line: If there is no doubt about when a woman conceived, by 6 weeks gestation an embryo with a heart beat should be visible on transvaginal ultrasound.  If conception is unknown then the absence of a yolk sac and a heart beat could indicate that the pregnancy is not along as far as believed.

is it ok to have ultrasound free pregnancies?i heard ultrasound can harm unborn children.

Yes: Certainly, you can request not to have any ultrasounds during your pregnancy. However, ultrasound has been used for decades and there are no known consistent health risks to a developing fetus.  They are safe.  Ultrasound is an easy way to look for potential health issues which may be addressed before delivery, or at least can be anticipated for intervention after delivery.  Trust your ob.

no yolk sac was found on ultrasound at 6w 4d. there was a strong heartbeat. does this mean i will misscary?

Not necessarily: While no one can really predict a miscarriage, the yolk sac is only meant to act as a food supply for the zygote during the very early stages of development. It should and will eventually disappear. Its disappearance does not increase your risk of a miscarriage. Hope this helps!

first ultrasound @9weeks3days doc couldn't find heartbeat. is it early to detect heartbeat? should i wait a week?

Correlate with HCG: If your blood betaHCG was very low (below 1000 mIU/ml) ultrasound may reveal a small gestational sac only...; no embryo and no "heartbeat".  The presence of an embryo, yolk sac and the detection of cardiac activity will usually occur several days later if betaHCG is rising normally. Measuring your blood betaHCG levels and correlating them with the sonographic findings will guide you and your doc.
