Menstrual migraine : You may be suffering from menstrual migraine or estrogen-associated migraine. This may be seen with decline in estrogen, such as at the beginning of the menstrual cycle. If you in fact suffer from this condition, your doctor can prescribe specific medications for you to take just prior to the onset of your menstruation as to prevent the headaches. Certain types of magnesium supplements may help.

Dysmenorrhea: What you describe is not common, but some women do have severe pain and headaches with their periods. You may have endometriosis, which is a condition that makes periods very painful. You may want to consider using a birth control method that will stop you from having periods, and likely these symptoms will also stop. good luck!

what can one do if they are losing alot of blood from their menstruation? feeling light headed and have headache and wondering how to get ones iron up.

Anemia: Or low blood due to low iron is likely. Best would be to start with your GP for an exam and recommendations based on your current medical history. Iron supplements are available, some are poorly tolerated, but would suggest starting with a comprehensive eval in order also to consider work up/ treatment for the heavy menstrual bleeding. If established with Gyn, you may start with them.
