Thyroid Levels: Hashimoto's and and graves' disease are both caused by autoimmunity (where antibodies attack one's own proteins).  Hashimoto's more often results in low thyroid hormone levels. Where graves' disease almost always results in high thyroid hormone levels.

Different: Whether you need thyroid replacement or not depends on your thyroid hormone status .  Hashimotos is sually associated with low thyroid and Grave's high thyroid eventually -&gt; low thyroid. The course of either disease varies greatly from one person to another.

Not a form, similar : Both hashimotos and graves are autoimmune thyroid diseases. Both are caused by antibodies against the thyroid. The result is opposite. Hashimotos often causes an under active thyroid, and graves causes an over active thyroid.

Hashitoxicosis: I am presuming you are hyperthyroid, but there is evidence of thyroid inflammation, or high tpo antibodies.   If the thyroid is tender, nsaids or possibly Prednisone is used.  Most endocrinologists would treat the hyperthyroidism with meds (methimazole, beta blockers) and then recommend either radioactive iodine or surgery.

: Symptoms rarely useful for diagnosis or treatment of thyroid problems. For Hashimotos you need antibody titers measured. If you are looking at only thyroid sites there are many crazies out there. Recommend you pay for 1 months subscription to uptodate.com and read all am about thyroid and all other medical issues. Will save time money and maybe even your life. If u take biotin messes with TSH mess

Only if untreated.: It would be rare to pass away from graves disease or hashimoto disease, as these diseases are easy to diagnose and treat in this era.  Very rarely, if a patient was avoiding medical care, the thyroid condition could, in time, become severe enough to be fatal.
