i have several white crusty hard bumps on my scalp i can pick them off and it just looks like skin they will hurt and grow back by the next day or so.

Seborrheic Dermatiti: Seborrhea dermatitis is often associated with redness, scaling, and crusting.  Seborrhea also can affect other parts of the body, including the face, chest and upper back.     Treatment options include application of selenium sulfide, pyrithione zinc or ketoconazole-containing shampoos, topical ketoconazole cream or terbinafine solution, topical sodium sulfacetamide and topical corticosteroids.

Skin growth: Could be a benign lesion called a seborrheic keratosis but it the lesions grows, bleeds gets painful or changes you should have it checked.  As you should with any skin lesion.

Skin bump: bumps and lumps on the skin can be anything from benign cysts to malignant tumors. this is something that should be looked at and diagnosed by your doctor and a biopsy/excision should be performed if necessary. 
dont worry, this is most probably a cyst but be responsible about your health and get this taken care of.

C/w scar tissue or: possibly a persistent sebaceous cyst with significant scar tissue around it which your efforts are not emptying, just adding to trauma &amp; more scar tissue. Best leave alone in hopes scar tissue will decrease some over time or have excised by someone with good plastic surgery seamstress skills to reclose with minimal new scar tissue induction.

Scalp bump: This may be a cyst or inflamed ingrown hair A bony outgrowth of the skull is another possibility.. If there is pain and tenderness,a physician should examine you for diagnosis and treatment.

Lesion On Scalp: You should not put any cream on it.  You should see your primary care physician for further evaluation and treatment and possible referral to a dermatologist.

Bumps/scalp: It may be that you will be able to find it and reassess it after he has fallen asleep. Most small bumps can be observed to see if they resolve. Sometimes a bump may be related to trauma.Scalps are difficult to assess as there are so many bumps which appear to be swelling, but are part of a normal scalp. Have any swelling that is growing or has an unusual color assessed.

Scalp cysts: I'd see your doctor for an exam. One of the most common cause of scalp cysts would be "wens". These are generally benign and can be removed by a surgeon if indicated.
