i'm a 20 year old female, and have noticed a hard, painless pea-sized lump in my armpit. it's been there for two years or so now, what should i do?

Lump: What you describe does not sound to be dangerous, not anything like cancer, since it has been asymptomatic and stable for 2 years.  If you want to have it removed you can see a general surgeon or a family physician, most of whom are able to do simple excisions.  The doctor may then advise to send it for a pathology report to know specifically what it is.

Surgical excision: Most small lumps in the armpit, particularly if superficial, are sebaceous cysts due to a damaged hair follicle. Unless they become large and bothersome, most sebaceous cysts can be left alone. The most important thing is to have the lump examined by a qualified health care professional to make sure that it is indeed most likely a sebaceous cyst and not something of more concern.

Armpit lump: a hair follicle or lymph node may present as a lump. If it does not change in size most likely you do not have to see a doctor. If concerned make an appointment for thorough history.

May be a lymph node?: Hard to know without seeing and examining, but if not tender I'd guess it might be a lymph node. Not to be alarming, but, a swollen, non-tender, lymph node MIGHT be the sign of a more serious condition, like HIV. You should see you doctor to examine it and decide if it needs any testing or treatment.

Lymphadenopathy: It sounds like you have some swollen lymph nodes in your armpits.  Lymph nodes can be found all over body inside and out.  When they are swollen it can mean many things, when they are swollen and tender it narrows down the diagnosis.  Without a full history and physical exam it is hard to say what it could be, but in a 19 year old female I would always be concerned for lymphoma.  See a Dr ASAP

Seen a Doctor lately: If your lymph glands are enlarged and growing bigger, you need to have them checked by your physician. Lymph nodes do not enlarge unless you have either Infection or Cancer in the lymph glands. So go seek medical evaluation and a physical examination by a doctor, soon.
