swollen and painful lymph nodes in neck. my doc thinks it's my psoriasis, but i do not, what else could this be?

Adenitis...: Adenitis.....if cold- nontender will indicate Lymphoma etc. If it is tender...inflammatory in nature...may be infectious in nature.....can be related to oral cavity, scalp ,skin related infection. Try a course of antibiotic like Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) DS ...that will improve  psoriasis also.

Neck masses: Other than lymph nodes in neck are commonly thyroid nodules, branchial cleft cysts, lipomas.  If you can feel these masses in your neck, have your doctor order a ct or mri.  Ultrasound is particularly good at telling whether a mass is solid or cystic, not hard or soft.

: You are only 18, and I'll bet you dont have cancer, however, worrying about it is not helping you and I strongly suggest that you go and see your doctor and ask him what's going on.  You will feel so much better.

Inflammation in H&amp;N: Painful swollen nodes an indication of an inflammatory process in the H&amp;N area.  If the nodes are high in the posterior neck region, examine the scalp for an infection.  If in anterior triangle mid neck one should do endoscopy to see if lesion in area of larynx or cords . In supraclavicular area, inflammation apex of lung can cause the problem and chest X ray can help.  Bx if necessary.

You need a medical e: A medical examination is advised in order to find out the cause of enlarged nodes. It can be due to an infection or cancer. Your doctor can tell the cause and guide you as to what is best next step. It may require a biopsy unless it is due to infection for which antibiotics may be indicated.

Pressure and swell: This can be related to a number of things but often the swelling is underneath where you actually can feel or see (like a glacier).  If these have not gone done within one week go see a doctor.  There are tests that need to be done.  If you feel like you can't breath or have chest pain go to be evaluated urgently.

Symptoms: No symptoms is fine except for night sweats You need to find out why.

Far more important is a visit to your doctor about your nodes. Do not put it off. may be nothing to worry about but it could also require further evaluation.

See details: Numerous issues can cause lymph node enlargement but the hard mass in the armpit does give one cause for concern. Without knowing your history and being able to examine the areas involved, it is difficult to give specific advice. However, i would urge a complete evaluation including ct scan if this persists.
