Not normal: If there truly was no trauma this may be fluid in the joint. Sounds like you should see a Hand Specialist. It is unlikely this represents a generalized disorder ( eg arthritis) but it needs a "look see"

Yep. : Yep.  You probably have what's called a boxer's fracture.  It most commonly occurs not in boxers but in people who have punched walls or wooden beams.  What's likely broken in the bone that connects your pinkie finger to your wrist, and possibly also the one next to it.  If so, you need a cast.  If you don't treat it, you could wind up with a permanent deformity in your hand.

Watch digit use: You can just watch. Generally if an infant guards or refuses to use the injured part further evaluation is definitely warranted. 1 concern would be if there is  an injury to the growth plate.  Kids are very resiliant and learn to adapt. I would watch overall use.

Was there: any trauma?  More information is needed. It is unusual to have a single knuckle (finger JOINT) enlargement without trauma..(arthritic disorders usually invlove multiple joints. In any case you need to have an xray and your PCP (Primary Care Provider) can order this and proceed from the results!

RXN v Infection: I could be a localized allergic reaction to the bite or it could mean that it is infected.  Sounds like you need to take an antihistamine and let a doctor take a look at it.

X-ray asap: You need an X-ray and evaluation right away. Get to your physician right away, or go to the Emergency Department. And then stop punching walls! I assume you are doing this as an unhealthy coping mechanism for stress or trauma you are experiencing right now. Get to a psychotherapist immediately to discuss more effective coping strategies.

my dad lacerated his hand earlier today and now his wrist is swollen. is this cause for concern?

Yes, see doctor: Could be an infection, sometimes even into some of the deep structures of the hand like tendons. Has laceration been seen and treated? Cuts should be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water. If it does not look like it needs stitches, it should be kept covered with antibiotic ointment and bandaged. Any swelling, redness, pain, or infected drainage should be looked at. Tetanus booster may be needed.
