Accepted Answer

No.: Odds are no ! surgery should always be a last option. There are many reasons for nerve pain radiating into an arm or leg. Most "pinched nerves" can be treated conservatively with physical therapy, medication, or injection.

Poss. Radiculopathy: what part of the shoulder? Along the inner boarder down back to tip of shoulder blade? Quality of pain? Burning, pins and needles, electricity, deep dull, shooting? Weakness in the upper arm? 
Need more information.   
Can do over door cervical traction. To help relieve symptoms but need physical exam first,  possible cervical MRI or may need to look at your shoulder as a cause for the pain.

More info: The MRI and CT you speak of were of the head. Did you have a neck imaging test?
Any pinched nerves come from the neck.
Scalp tingling is another separate issue. Need labs and more information.
Neck cracking and popping is benign and self limiting.

Does not correlate.: The disk bulges at C5-C7 should affect your arm &amp; neck, not the forehead &amp; scalp. Many people live their ENTIRE LIVES with bulging disks &amp; don't complain of any pain, so MRI or CT scan to "diagnose" bulging disks is actually a gross misuse of imaging. Talk to your doctor or a neurologist about your symptoms to undergo accurate testing. Or use HealthTap Prime. Good luck to you; hope you find cause.

i have had two neck surgeries in 3 years - fusion c4-5, artificial joint (c2-3) and and cage/hip graft c5-6. last 24 hours, severe quad twitch/spasm ?

Hard to say: Multiple potential causes of  pain and spasm in your "quad". Presumably you mean in your quadriceps, which is in your leg?  Usually would be related to the area  itself,  or a referred or radicular pain which could potentially be related to the back.  As high as 20 percent of patients with neck problems can develop similar problems in the back.  Don't hesitate to be seen.

2 years ago the grinding in my shoulder started everytime i move it, it pops and grinds never had pain or swelling until last month i started having sharp pains going to my neck still no swelling thought it was pinched nerve why is this happening?

Degeneration: Shoulder grinding suggest excess wear and tear has allowed the ball and socket to rub with movement, hence, grinding. Your neck pain may or may not be related to the shoulder and deserves a clinical exam; however, I suspect a degenerative process there as well. Good luck

Complex issue; yes,: likely, because such maneuvers, especially enough to create popping sensations, possibly noise, are inherently generating enough tissue trauma to generate the sensation (sound?), body structure, as in all living systems (all open systems; i.e. everything made of keeps changing), is based on a constant remodeling/rebuilding based on previous structure as an ongoing foundation.

my husband fractured his c2 a couple of days ago. they did not opt for surgery or a halo and have him in a neck brace and sent him home the day after the incident. is this a good sign?

Indicates stability: Not all fractures are the same.  Some are stable and some are not.  The lack of aggressive treatment indicates this fracture is probably stable.  Always ask.

is  there a naturopathic method to heal a fractured c2 neck bone? mine was fractured 4 months ago and ct and x-rays show no sign of healing. i want to avoid surgery, if possible?

Not really: As we age, our healing becomes progressively delayed, and unfortunately a nonunion fracture at C-2 is not rare.  Sometimes electronic stimuli can help bones heal, but not familiar with success outcomes in this type of injury.  Surgery may be a challenging process, and would recommend getting at least 3 opinions, as almost certainly will require instrumentation and perhaps fusion in addition.
