It is aggressive: This sounds like a late stage or aggressive cancer that has spread to your liver and the tissue lining the inside of your abdomen.  Please discuss this  with your gyn oncologist.

Depends time: Most of the surgeons andoncologists will agree, to start chemo when the fascia  wound is healed,  2 to 3 wks, as collagen has to formed, other wise wound will disrupt, how ever for a minor procedures  could be given little early. If it is only skin disruption after 3 wks could be given.

my mother in law had debulikng surgery 4 weeks ago for ovarian cancer. she was diagnosed 3c. her inscion is not healing . what about chemo?

Need wound care: Most likely subcutaneous tissue had some collection of fluid and opened , more often it happens in slightly obese person, ask your doctor to refer to wound care specialist, with vac drainage will hasten healing, with open wounds, oncologist will not give chemotherapy.

Congratulations : Congratulations on doing well thus far!  everything you listed sounds like good news.  I can tell you that the overall 5 year survival rate for all ovarian cancers is 47%, but if it was caught in the early stages and the cancer was only in the primary site, the five year survival is 92%.  You should talk with your oncologist about your prognosis.  By knowing your staging, genetic markers, tumor histology, aggressiveness of your cancer, details about your surgery and treatment, and tumor response, they may be able to give you a more accurate prognosis.  In general, people are not considered "cured" until they have 5 years of being cancer-free, but every day without cancer is fantastic.

it's more than 12 weeks post-surgery for stage 3 ovarian cancer.  is it too late to benefit from chemotherapy?

Unknown: Most oncologists prefer to treat patients with a malignancy like ovarian cancer within 12 weeks from their diagnosis. At 12 weeks post surgery you are right on the edge. However, i think most oncologists would want to treat you because of the nature of ovarian cancer. You should have restaging studies with a ct scan as well. Definitely ask your oncologist, as there are many variable here.

CA+Pain - check out: When there is cancer or a cancer history and new bone pain, it should be evaluated.  That doesn't necessarily mean expensive tests, but a history, physical exam, and assessment of the potential problem. It could be musculoskeletal non-cancerous pain or ovarian cancer with referred pain, or a metastases in the bone, etc.

Ovarian cancer: With tumor marker ca125 coming down i don't think her cancer is returning, it is either constipation or an effect of the chemo on her bowels or other meds.

finished chemo for stage iiia ovarian cancer in oct 2013.  ca125 was 8 6wks ago and 20 now have large right groin node.  is the ca125 jump a lot?  can incisional hernia cause lymph node to swell?

Seek medical exam: Your oncologist needs to know about this groin node if you have not yet told him.Since your ca 125 is still in the normal range, i would not draw any conclusions but your doctor needs to examine you and guide you. It is best not to follow your disease with ca125 right now as it will likely have such fluctuatiosns, causing you to be nervous and anxious, yet it does not help in making treatment decis.

Obstruction: The best bet is chemo. Otherwise conservative measures and reserve surgery for failure.

More dangerous: There are several dozen distinct types of ovarian cancer, and even within the types, there are subgroups that are more or less like to spread rapidly, invade surrounding structures more quickly, and/or spread to remote sites.  The types will guide treatment, and some of the more aggressive tumors also respond especially well.  Good luck -- i'll be thinking of you.
