i am 12 weeks post-op from my simple anal fistulotomy. wound looks healed and no pain but still have small amount sticky discharge w/ small bits. why?

Could be normal but: see your surgeon to make sure. What is the color of the discharge? What kind of bits- like blood clots, tissue, stool? A small amount of mucous can be normal after fistulotomy. Make sure you keep the area clean, do sitz baths, and avoid constipation at all costs. Use stool softeners, eat a high fiber diet, and drink plenty of water. Good luck!

is it normal to still have drainage (fibrin?) from anal fistulotomy even im in 1 month and 3 weeks recovery? but i have no infection just wound.

Takes a while: It takes a while for things to heal after this procedure. Have you followed up with the surgeon? Even if you have, make another appointment to see her and get checked out. Then make sure all of your questions are answered before you leave.

Fistulotomy ?'s: Fistulas are usually infected secondary to rectal bacteria, and may require more time to completely resolve after surgery.  See the surgeon who performed the surgery for an exam and testing to make certain the fistula is resolved.

D/w your surgeon: 

Marijuana itself has very little effect on wound healing or recovery after surgery.  Smoking, however, decreases lung function and can interfere with wound healing.  Most experts suggest cessation of smoking for at least four weeks before surgery. Marijuana is illegal and may lead to dependency, mood changes and psychosis. Will not recommend to use Marijuana post surgery.

If the fustulotomy: Was done properly, very unlikely to be infected per se. The fistula is a chronic infection so the surgery should effectively drain the infection. Take warm tub soaks 3times per day and after a bowel movement to keep the wound clear.

Minor but...: Can be done under "twilight" or even local anesthesia but all surgeries have risks.  Even minor ones.

For this surgery Incontinence is probably the worst complication but fortunately rare

Several days: You don't say where the fistula is. The location and the extent of the surgery are the primary factors but, most of the time, significant discomfort resolves in a few days.
