young people who did not get the vaccine for h1n1 vaccine have no immunity and it will hot them hard
so get the annual flu vaccine to protect yourself against this strain of influenza.

H1N1: That virus was prevelent in 2010 and 2011. I haven't see much of it in 2012. It is droplet and contact (ie not wahing hands) spread, so yes you can catch it from being close to an infected person. H1n1 is certainly not a death sentence, it's just a virus we have named. If you are in good health, you'll have two weeks of the "flue".
