Probably not: H. pylori infection of the stomach may be present in more than half the people in the world! Most people don't realize they have it. But if you develop symptoms of an ulcer--burning abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite, and unintentional weight loss--the cause could be H. pylori. I would think the pain and nausea of an ulcer would drive you to treatment before you lost a large amount of weight

Maybe.: C diff can cause wt loss and pain, but usually those symptoms parallel the severity of the diarrhea.  H pylori and o+p are also unlikely but possible causes of pain and wt loss.  Really depends upon your symptoms and history.  Test turn around time is something you should ask your doc or your lab.

: H Pylori infection can cause bloating, inflammation and other processes that can add hidden weight. After treatment, the body takes a few weeks to heal, and you may notice that you are not feeling so bloated, gassy, painful or that you lose a small amount of weight. If the weight loss continues, and you lose more than 10 pounds without trying to, consult your Dr.

Epigastric pain: Probably warrants a visit to a gastroenterologist.  The discomfort and belching may just be reflux that might respond to a trial of an over the counter medication like otc Prilosec or similar.  The weight loss is worrisome and along with the other symptoms needs to be further evaluated.

Digestive problems: Well a gastroenterologist is an 'expert' in this field - so hopefully something can get worked out for you to have the full evaluation, which helps direct the best treatment. In the meantime, you could try various things for improvement. I'm a big fan of ginger. I recc ginger tea, ginger candies, anything with ginger. Take ginger root, boil for 10 min, add honey -see if that helps.  Feel better!
