Inflammed or infect: Inflammation can be just that (red, swollen, tender to touch, warm). And will heal with time. Or there could be abnormal pressure from adjacent tissue/structure or infection. Check with the dentist. Swelling around tooth that just had root canal work is not unusual. However, if very swollen, or painful, or pus coming from area, or anything beyond little swelling, check w dentist.

Don't worry... It should go away after a week or so. Tell your dentist about this when going back to continue treatment.

Depends: depends, if it it is just at the base of the crown  you might just have a localized case of gingivitis in that area due to food trapping, lack of brushing well etc.  I would just monitor the area as I continue to brush normal (with a little more attention given to that area) &amp; if it get worse (where ibuprofen does not help pain) I would see my local dentist. No worries

A few days: Once the abscess is drained, most symptoms go away quickly, within a few days. If the abscess is still in the gums, your dentist may suggest that you rinse with warm salt water a few times a day or you may need antibiotics to help fighting infection. Regardless, the abscess will not be cured unless the cause is completely eliminated.
