why are my gums sore after getting a filling?

Sore gums after fill: This depends on how deep and the location of the filling? It also depends if a rubber dam was used also. Usually, the gums maybe sore if they were abraided during polishing, or if an injection was given that area to gain profound anesthesia. It should be for a short duration and should go away in 2 to 24 hours.

Short healing time: Keep mouth scrupulously clean (floss daily, brush 2x/day for 2 fulminates by the clock.  Dab Orajel or Orabase-B onto sore spot with q-tip. Take Ibuprofen as per package directions.   If still a problem in a week, see your Dentist.

Sore gums: The area around the extraction can be sore for more than a week it all depends how the tooth was extracted and if the gum was flapped back
go back to the dentist and have it evaluated.

: You can chew with that tooth so the root canal was successful then your problem is due to gingival inflammation either from gingivitis or irritation with poor crown fitting. You can apply oragel (teething gel) as often as needed for discomfort then call your dentist for further advice. Good luck!
