: Low odds.  Growing pains commonly affect children between 4 and 8 years of age (ranging from 3 to 13), are usually bilateral over the anterior thigh or calf or behind the knee.
I would advise her be examined by her PCP.

Patellofemoral pain: With your age and no history of injury and w/out any other information or a physical examination the most likely cause of your pain is your kneecap( patellofemoral). The cartilage beneath your kneecap can soften and cause pain esp. W/stair climbing , stair master , lunges, squats , or just keeping your knees bent for a period of time( sitting in an airplane, church etc).Anatomy, weight, jt. Laxity.

But I have seen this disappear in many kids by diet control and a few vitamin supplements.It is usually associated with behavioral issues because oxidative metabolism is compromised. Sugar in all its forms is the main culprit.It is called "growing pains" and it may well be true because growth and development require good nutrition.

If u r still growing: Usually growing pains are bilateral and usually in the calves or thighs.  If u r having problems in ur ankle, knees or hips u should have it checked out.  Also, if u r having frequent muscle cramps u might want to consider multivitamin and mineral supplements along with increased fluid intake.  Muscles can't function properly if it is not getting everything it needs

If you are an 18 : Year old female, you are unlikely to still be growing. Growing pains are diagnosed if nothing else is found to be wrong and someone is still growing. I would recommend you see your doctor to be examined so your pain can be properly diagnosed.
