my groin hurts a lot after i run. should i wear strap or something?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Groin strap will not hurt and it supports scrotum which may be beneficial. Try not to run for a couple of weeks and determine if the groin pain dissipates.

when ever i try to do excercise like run etc my groin starts to hurt i have to limp for the rest of the day. been few months it's in like the v line ?

Be seen: I would be seen and evaluated.  From a musculoskeletal perspective, the most common cause of unguinal pain with running is a problem in the hip joint.  You may need to be seen to have this ruled out.

trained for half marathon and had dull groin ache on right side. took a mos break & ache is back after runs. doesn't hurt during run. likely causes?

See below: Possibilities include strain of groin muscles, problem with the hip itself or sometimes a problem with the sacroiliac joint . Less common cause in a 24 year old would be a hernia.  Would recommend you see a sports medicine doctor who can figure it out for you.

Here are some ...: Reviewing your scenario strongly suggests the pain you've had seems more physically related, not varicocele-related for the following reasons: More than 15-20% of men have left varicocle; small (invisible) varicocle &amp; even most of large (visible) one still hardly has discomfort/ache/pain at all. If the pain is related with varicocele, it tends to occur with the large ones in a certain pattern.

i am experiencing  groin pain and hip pain. mainly after running and sport, hurts most when i push my pelvis and hips outward and around that angle.

This pain: may be coming from your lumbar spine (The nerve arising between the 4th and 5th Lumbar vetebrae.

Ask your Primary Care Provider if a n MRI is indicated!
(The running can increase a "slippage" if one vertebra is "sliding" over the other Medical Term SPONDYLOLISTHESIS  L4-L5

Differential: Tendonitis most likely but other possibilites include stress fracture, impingement, arthritis secondary to childhood hip problem or a hernia (usually a male).  I assume there was no injury.

Pelvis: There are many muscles attached to parts of the pelvis. You probably have an imbalance somewhere in this complicatedsystem, either with twisting of the bones or muscles.

Groin pain: Most likely overuse such as tendinitis or strain/sprain. Less likely causes include hernia or stress fracture or labral tear. See a doctor if the symptoms persist for further evaluation.

Hernia: The next step is an examination for an inguinal hernia.
