Would not advise: There have been associations of grape allergies with wine. The major allergen of grape has been scientifically identified as endochitinase 4a.  Check with your personal doctor or allergist.

You maybe!: Chances are that you are allergic to wine, however, grapes can be associated with other allergens: pesticides, yeast/mold, and sulfites.  They have identified the allergen for grape as: endochitinase 4a.

Unknown: It is probably extremely uncommon in italians much like the general population at large to have a "pure" grape allergy.  As mentioned previously, molds, yeast, pesticides, and sulfites associated with grapes can also be the culprit.  Ethnic group studies/data regarding grape allergies have not been collected in the scientific literature in my med search.

Food allergy: Allergy to any food, in this case grape will cause symptoms of oral itching, lip or tongue swelling, hives, breathing difficulty and/or throat closure etc. Food allergy is diagnosed with clinical history followed by skin or blood test and that information helps establish the diagnosis and severity of the allergy.

Very rare: There are case reports, but it is a very uncommon allergy.

Accepted Answer

Could be: While safe for most people, grapes have been known to have side effects such as: sore throat, stomach issues-nausea/vomiting/indigestion, cough, dry mouth, and muscular problems. It may be a rare allergy.  To confirm, stop grapes for a week or two and retry them again to see if it recurs.  You may want to check this out with you dr. And have antihistamines on hand.

Yes: Yes, these should have the allergen in them.

is it bad to take otc allergy medication to help fall asleep once in a while?

Accepted Answer

Try Melatonin: If you use Benedryl or some other OTC allergy medication to fall asleep once in awhile it won't hurt you.  However, its not a perfect solution.  These medications change your sleep architecture.  You don't get the right balance of each stage of sleep to feel rested.  You may feel hung-over in the morning.  A better solution would be Melatonin.  You can buy it a healthfood store.  Sulingual is best

Not a common cause: Other than steroids, I am not aware of any common allergy drugs that are associated with the development of gynecomastia.
