i have green discharge. viganal swab test results are : scant gram  positive cocci and bacilli. do i have bacterial infection? thanks

Can't say: Those results mean nothing. Vaginal infections causing discharge are typically sexual or what's called bacterial vaginosis (BV). BV is diagnosed by wet mount looking for 'clue cells'. Sexual infections are gonorrhea and chlamydia (both diagnosed by DNA swab) and trichomonas (diagnosed by wet mount looking for the moving organisms).

: I assume you meant Lactoferrin stool test not Ferrolactin.
The presence of Lactoferrin only means there is bowel inflammation regardless of the causative agent, bacteria or virus.

Needs careful review: Urethritis can be 'obvious' as in the case of gonorrhea or less obvious in other cases -which are typically referred to as NGU - non-gonococcal urethritis. For a thorough evaluation, the doctor should go beyond a simple urinary dipstick.  NGU will only have positive findings some of the time with that. I prefer a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) that would be much more sensitive.

Mgt: The pus in the airway is consistent with an infection. I would suggest discussing antibiotic treatment with your physician.

Check your local forecast for pollen counts. Often times allergy spikes in pollen will cause the symptoms you are describing. An over the counter antihistamine is a safe way to see if your children feel better without an antibiotic. I hope this helps.

Difficult to say: This question is so broad, it's hard to answer. There are various 'groups' of people one could look at - from babies, so kids, to adults, and even older folks. Then, you can throw race into the mix, because God made us all different so there's that. Plus, there are different 'regions of the body' that could be infected - like skin, urine, lung etc. I like to go to the CDC website for the best info

Cannot predict: It would depend on the severity of the infection, the cause, location, etc. Generally, with the right antibiotic, an infection is usually  cleared up in 7-10 days

Depends: Tick bites can carry diseases like rocky mountain spotted fever, lyme disease, & ehrlichiosis. Mosquito bites in many areas of the world can carry malaria, yellow fever, & a host of other diseases. Any insect bite can become secondarily infected with strep, staph, mrsa. If the bite area is swelling, getting redder, draining pus, hurting more, see a doc as soon as possible for evaluation & tx.
