i have a grainy feeling in my mouth and dry when i swallow. i noticed hundreds of teeny tiny bumps on the roof of my mouth and tiny white dots on my back inner cheeks. i think it could be due to burning my mouth on hot coffee? should i be concerned?

Bumps: I think you are right. Take medication for discomfort if needed- Tylenol or Ibuprofen. These bumps should resolve in a few days. Be careful with the hot stuff in the future.

Prophy paste: It is basically toothpaste, but usually much more coarse. It is very effective at removing surface stains and usually is fluoridated as well.

Concerning Symptoms: Your symptoms are concerning.  List of possible causes is rather long.  Neurological, endocrine, electrolyte imbalance, vascular issues, infection and others all possible. Multiple causes: There are several sources of a rash like this that vary greatly in source.  Viral infections leading rashes with these symptoms are common.  Streptococcal infections can lead to similar rashes.  It will require photography to help clarify.

Biotene products.: Dry mouth is a common problem due to the many medications people take that cause this problem. A company named biotene has several products that are useful for alleviating this problem. I am sure there are other brands, too. Sip on water throughout the day as well. Do not suck on candies sweetened w/ anything other than xylitol. Do not sip soda or sugared drinks. Tea & coffee make you worse!

i am horrified to see toddlers mouthing mobile phones. what are the risks?

Wow!: Wow, that would horrify me too. So many  bacteria/viruses on the phone for one, and all the illnesses that go with it. Not to mention the potential for injurying their teeth and gums.  And there is the concern about electromagnetic radiation from cell phones--for an infant especially.  And how about the effects of saliva on the phone?  I wonder if the iphone 5 is "spit-proof"?
