Within one month: If you take no further shots of depoprovera then a period will appear within one month after the 3 months effective time for the Depo-Provera medication to wear off.

Hormones in pills...: Some women don't have periods while on birth-control pills.  Some women love it; others hate it because they worry about pregnancy every month.  If you are on the pill and are not having periods it won't hurt you.  The first few times it happens, its a good idea to do a pregnancy test.  If this is persistent and it bothers you, see your doc and switch to a pill that gives you periods.  Best wishes

No: If you have continuous birth control which it sounds you have been, there is little to no likelihood of pregnancy. The shot and implants can cause a little more hormonal irregularity.

Your Depo shot has: run out its effectivity.  Please return for the next shot.  Please make sure you get one every 3 months.  Your irregularity is a result of the hormones being in flux and not acting right, and it will take time (usu 2-3 months) before it resets itself again unless you take another Depo shot.

Normal: This is the expected outcome with with implant.  The chances of the periods stopping gets higher the longer you use methods such as pills, DepoProvera and contraceptive implants.  The implant is highly effective at preventing pregnancy, so you are not pregnant.  No need to worry.  Of course the implant does not protect against STDs, so still use condoms or abstinence until marriage.

Normal: Depoprovera is highly effective for birth control. It's common to cause a change or a stopping of periods.

Depo provera: can suppress ovulation and period up to a year after last injection, and is expected to suppress ovulation if shots are taken on a 90 day schedule, for contraception.

Normal: It can sometimes take a few months for the period to return especially if you have been on Depo-Provera for more than 1 year.  If nothing happens by 3 months check in with your doctor for hormone testing.  Unfortunately you have to wait until it clears.

Common with Depo: It is not unusual for women on Depo-Provera to have very light or even absent periods.  That said, I am assuming that you have been getting the shots every 90 days and are still under the influence of the medication.  If not, then you are at risk of pregnancy and should do test.    Also, if it has been 7 months since your last shot, then I advise seeing your Gyne to check hormone status &amp; thyroid.

its been 10 months since i got off depo. ive had no period and really want a baby. what can i do to conceive?

Accepted Answer

Relax: Use this time to get healthy. Eat good food, get plenty of exercise and sleep. It often takes a year before ovulation resumes after depo. Worry causes an increase in cortisol which can inhibit ovulation. Keep in mind that you could ovulate before you have a period. Start prenatal vitamins if you are not already on them.
