Imaging recommended: A simple bruising should have resolved by now. It is important to get imaging such as X Rays done to rule out a depressed skull fracture. See a doctor who can examine and decide if this is needed

hit my head pretty hard on the middle-top, left side of my head. hit while i was underneath my staircase, came up quick & hit it hard. its been about 6 hours & my head still hurts pretty badly. should i worry? pain spreads from that area to temple?

: Local pain and headaches quite common from closed head injury.  Most often, will resolve. But if worsening pain, nausea, vomiting, blurred or double vision, dizziness or imbalance, contact doctor

Head : Simple solution stop being so abusive and smacking your head. You can induce trauma and potentially a mild subdursl hematoma or induce a concussion. I would refer you to a psychologist to figure out why you're doing this type if self abusive behavior

Yes: If you did not get knocked out, you can expect some symptoms headache, nausea for a few days even a week.  If splitting headache and recurrent vomiting get checked

hit in temple with a 22oz hammer 3 days ago/immediate headache that wrapped around my head very painful but subsided after a few hours/soft lump an inch above my right ear painful to touch/and opening jaw hurts still 3 days later?

: Appears you experienced a closed head injury causing a local hematoma above your right ear, and this should resolve over the next few weeks, but will be tender over the interval.  Do wonder if you also injured your jaw concurrently.  Might check with your dentist.

Unusual: It is very unusual to have pain in the head  4yrs after injury.Need to see your doc get checked out including imaging studies.

Did you lose: Consciousness ? Have memory lapse? Any dizzy spell? It is advisable to see your doc and have evaluated .

: Your headache may be due to a concussion. Since there is no improvement, please follow up with your PCP. A full neurologic examination is indicated. Watch for signs of imbalance, worsening headache and nausea/vomiting.

See comments below: If your concerned about having had a concussion(minor traumatic brain injury from a blow to the head): Classically, someone with concussion has a headache, appears confused, and has loss of memory around the time of their head injury. They may also have lost consciousness briefly. If you didn't experience this it's unlikely you had a concussion and your symptoms should resolve in 1-2 days.

i was hit incredibly hard in the head at basketball practice and i'm on blood thinners. should i get checked out? my head still hurts and its 12 hours

Yes: Most likely to suffered a concussion, which would give you a headache + potential nausea/ vomiting , vision problems, dizziness, etc. It is not very likely, but you can , potentially, have a subdural hematoma given the blood thinners. It is safer for you to have a head CT to be sure
