Get examined: "Purplish bumps" may not be abnormal, maybe just blood vessels, looking more prominent because of inflammation from gonorrhea or chlamydia. But genital herpes or warts might be possible as well. Presumably you saw a doctor, right? If not (e.g. if you arranged your own testing through a lab or on line), of if your doctor didn't examine you closely, return to the office right away. Good luck!

See your doctor: Many things can cause this, irritation from soaps,  detergents and fabric softeners, other infections, etc. The best thing to do is to see your gyn.

Urine STD tests: The urine tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia are very accurate and very simple to obtain.  The urine sample can be submitted at your doctor's office, placed in the proper tube and sent to the lab.  Results are usually ready in 2-3 days.  Hope this helps!

hello this is in advance! i had chlamydia gonorrhea and syphilis tests at 4 months after sex and hiv and hepatitis tests 6 months after all came back negative. are there chances of false negatives in any of these tests at those time frames?

: False negatives are always a possibility, but after that length of time it's unlikely. If you are that worried about it, consider contacting your sexual partner and seeing if they have developed any symptoms or positive tests.

treated for gonorrhea early november. tests negative for gon, chlamydia, trich, bv and yeast. but i still feel vaginal+vulva itching. what can it be?

Have GYN MD exam: Vulvo-vaginal itching can be caused by things other than infection. Some examples, tight clothing with irritation, underwear not thoroughly rinsed of detergent, frequent douching, or a skin rash. Have your GYN MD evaluate the area after you rule out local causes of itching.

Yes: Culture has historically been used for diagnosis but recent advances in science have allowed easier diagnosis through testing of the urine (nucleic acid amplification tests; naats). If there is concern for oral or anal infection, other additional specimens may be collected.

fta , tp-pa , eia . for syphlis and naat for gonorrhea . can we do tests when we are using antibiotics?

: All these are valid while taking antibiotics. With rare exceptions, antibiotics do NOT turn tests falsely negative. They sometimes make tests negative because they cure the infection. Either way, a negative test result proves the person is not infected.

You ask/they do: The common screen for gonorrhea is done on a urine specimen. If you have concerns that you may have been exposed to oral or anal gonorrhea it is important for you to speak up. Physicians do not necessarily assume you practice oro-genital or rectal sex . Good practices require good shared communication, which is a 2 way process.

i've had a urinalysis test twice in the last 2 months and both showed "trace leukocyte esteras". tests for gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis were negative. exposure was oral sex. her to me. what other things are there to consider? trich? thanks?

: What was the reason for the UA. a trace is not sensitive to wbcs. What did microscopy show is the next question?
