Lump: I need a better description of what you mean by where my rib cage splits. If you mean in the front along the midline at the base of your breastbone this may represent the xiphoid process which is a bony prominence that can be quite palpable in some people. In any other location this could be a bone callous or something superficial to the ribs such as a cyst.  I would recommend you see a physician for a full history and physical examination with possible imaging.

Swelling: Could be many things including a sebaceous cyst or a fatty tumor. Have it checked or sen us a picture. An ultrasound may be helpful in making the diagnosis. All the best.

Imaging: There are many conditions that may cause a swelling on or around the ribs. If you have had a recent fall or accident, a bruise can cause a lump which will most likely resolve with time. The other causes of a mass may be related to an abnormal growth. It is best to start with a visit to your doctor and an
 x ray or another imaging test of the area.

Needs further eval!!: At your age, need to know duration/ onset of symptoms, need physical exam!! Our concern is missing a tumor or malignancy!!Labs and imaging with CT or at least sonogram, symptoms could mean Gallbladder problems- gallstones? What other symptoms? Weight loss? Urine changes? Bowel changes? Food makes symptoms worse??! Best if seen by internal medicine, GI or surgeon! Good Luck

Painful bulge: You probably need to be evaluated to see if you have some type of hernia or another medical issue. 
It will require more of a history and physical and other testing (ultrasound), more than you can simply obtain from the internet.  Please follow up with your Primary and have a most excellent day.

Yes, and: Yes and constipation can contribute. The observation that it "comes and goes" is the key-you know you're dealing with something moving along through your colon: solid material/fluid/gas. (as opposed to a more ominous fixed mass like a tumor).

Many reasons: Different things can cause this pain.I suggest to gets sonogram to check your gallbladder and liver first to make sure no gallstones or a mass in that area. Otherwise could be also from lower lung or ribs.

Could be: Could be thoracic radiculopathy---where a nerve is being pinched in your thoracic spine and it radiates along your rib---this can come and go at times.
