hi i am writing to ask how i get rid of yellow tongue i smoke and only drink tea or cola, i find it hard to stop drinking tea as it's more of a comfort thing please help as it's getting me really down and i cover my mouth when i talk?

Try this: I'd try to alkalize your mouth and recolonize it with healthier critters.  Use a tongue scraper, brush teeth, gums, and tongue.  Use baking soda scrub on teeth gums, tongue, oral probiotics,  5-8 grams of xylitol spread throughout day.  That will make sure you dont have mold taking over.

Most likely dryness.: Common causes: mouth dryness & enlarged tongue papillae allowing bacteria to produce discoloration. Smoking, medications (anti-histamines & antidepressants), & caffeine-containing beverages, may contribute to dryness. Maintain good hydration & eliminate dryness contributers if possible. Although usually benign consult your physician if jaundice occurs.

Brush your tongue: Most of the stuff on your tongue is food debris.  Try using a tongue  scraper or a toothbrush to remove it  everyday.  If this does not help or if you have pain, swelling, you need to sea dentist for an exam.

Say Ahh: Sore throats have many causes. It would be helpful to know if your tongue is sore or sensitive or tender to movement, or touch, or if the surface is patchy or the same all around. Most sore throats/mouths are due to viral causes, and will resolve on their own. Dry mouth is an often overlooked cause. Strep bacterial infection is another. Acid reflux, and reaction to acid and spicy food.

: Good oral hygiene is the best way. That means a healthy diet and brushing and flossing. If you are on certain medications, eating spicey foods ,have a dry mouth causing bacteria to grow, all these can contribute to halitosis. Have your dentist provide you with an anti-bacterial solution to rinse with. Do you have a reflux problem? Do you smoke?
