im 7 weeks pregnant, overweight (90kg - 155cm height), is it safe to loose weight during pregnancy with a help of a dietician? i want to avoid gestational diabetes and/or preeclampsia from happening to me.

Avoid diabetes PG: Yes and it will help you avoid diabetes rest of your life as well as HBP preeclampsia and later high blood pressure.  And likely avoid DM and HBP  in your child.  Good job.

i didnt loose my baby weight from my first pregnancy. i am now pregnant again & worried about the risk of preeclampsia & gestational diabetes due to being overweight. i am 54 & weight around 169. should i worry?

: Pre-eclampsia is usually more frequent with first pregnancies, and gestational diabetes is a risk, but usually well controlled with frequent monitoring of glucose levels and treatment with insulin if necessary.  Ask your OB physician about a nutritionist consultation, as lowering carbohydrate consumption will decrease likelihood of either condition adversely affecting pregnancy.

urine results show calcium oxalate crystals, mucus threads & protein. i am 10 weeks pregnant and i have a 2,5 yo son(his pregnancy was difficult: preeclampsia & gestational  diabetes detected too late).what these results mean? my doc ordered ekg why?

Complex disease: Gestational diabetes (gdm), like type 2 diabetes, are related metabolic conditions with strong inherited genetic tendencies --- but multiple genes are involved in their expression (appearance in any person). So gdm is neither a dominant nor recessive trait. Whether a person gets gdm is also strongly impacted by age, weight, exercise levels, dietary factors, which are not genetically determined.

Diligently: Gestational diabetes is caused by Insulin insensitivity during pregnancy, i.e., Insulin doesn't work as well to control blood sugar.  Usually diet-controlled, it can require oral medications or even insulin.  Control is important for the baby's sake.  These baby's can be very fat and difficult to deliver, have very low blood sugar at birth and have higher lifetime risks of obesity and diabetes.
