GREAT idea: No disrespect to nurses, but you want the most accurate possible diagnosis. There are a variety of nodular lesions and even normal structures with variants that could mimic this. There are also a couple of serious entities. Glad you're getting checked -- biopsy if there's any doubt.

: There are over 100 types of sexually transmissible HPV. Two types (HPV 6 and HPV 11) are the main causes of genital warts, and usually do so within the first several months of catching them. If no warts in that time, probably you don't have these types. However, it's certainly possible. Talk to your doctor about being vaccinated against HPV.

Sometimes: you are correct in thinking that Aldara works by stimulating the body's immune response, it is most effective when applied directly to the involved lesions, but theory is that once the body's immune system  learns how to destroy a specific type of lesion (wart, skin cancer), it will also work on similar lesions elsewhere; however, this effect is not consistent

No risk, no worry: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is not transmitted through contaminated environments. There is absolutely no risk from this. You cannot catch the genital types of HPV without having sex.

Yes: External genital warts may not be present in the vagina and cervix so the pap may be negative.

Risky: Genital warts are very infectious. Your partner with a urethral wart should get it treated. You should also be aware of future risk transmitting this in future if you kiss or perform fellatio.
